PHP/Wordpress developer – fixed-term contract

RCVS Knowledge is seeking a PHP/Wordpress developer to maintain our current infrastructure and help shape the future direction of digital services at an exciting time in the organisation’s development. We are looking for a dynamic, organised and collaborative personality who is happy to work independently as part of a multi-skilled team as we embark on this new journey.

This is a 6-month position with start asap, at the latest within 1 month. There is the possibility to extend based on delivery of tasks described below.

Tasks:

  • Troubleshooting and deploying WordPress environments
  • Deploying applications to production environments
  • Assess state of legacy infrastructure and overhaul this to shape future of infrastructure, particularly identifying opportunities to upgrade and streamline applications and making recommendations for migrating legacy in-house applications
  • Overseeing maintenance of the RCVS Knowledge web presence

Essential requirements:

  • Excellent working knowledge of PHP and WordPress in particular
  • Experience administering LINUX servers with MySQL and Apache, particularly on AWS
  • Experience troubleshooting and deploying WordPress environments
  • Experience deploying applications to production environments
  • Experience deploying web services
  • Experience of writing documentation

Desirable attributes:

  • Experience of handling system upgrades
  • CICD
  • Front-end development experience
  • Multisite experience
  • Working knowledge of Bash and/or Python scripting
